Shoulder Rotator Cuff

Understand Shoulder Rotator Cuff, Strengthen Your Shoulder with Rotator Cuff Therapy and Treatment

Is it normal to still have pain 6 years after having rotator cuff surgery?

About 6 years ago I had rotator cuff surgery. My shoulder still hurts and I have proplems doing overhead work. Is this normal? I have seen 2 orthopedic surgeons, a pain management specialist, 2 chiropractors, and a physiologist. I also went through the necessary physical therapy as reccommended by the orthopedic surgeon who performed the surgery.

Yes as the median. I had it almost 4 years ago and can not lift my arm above my head without it popping out and extreme pain!
I have been told that the DR. took the conservative approach. I guess so because my MRI’s after surgery say that there is still massive injury. I have yet to speak to a patient that does not suffer from some sort of pain! Surgery is an answer but i personally am waiting to see what they come out with and just use pain management ,heat and ice as well as an antinflammatory ( ibuprofen) exercise was told to me to work if you do it slowly and 1st without weights. god luck i wish you better luck than i have had. you could have also re injured it get an MRI.

If you did all that and the proffessionals did their work ok you shouln’t have problem with the overhead work.
Now when ti comes to pain, there is what we call post surgical arthritis that may cause your pain and it’s quite often.
I would advise you to exersice your arm very, very, very very well according to your physical therapy. Don’t forget stretching
